Oregon Supreme Court to hear Hannah Fredrickson v. Starbucks Corp.
The Oregon Supreme Court will hear the case of Hannah Fredrickson v. Starbucks Corp. at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, April 11.
Starbucks Corp. came to the Oregon Supreme Court after it argued the decision of the Multnomah County Circuit Court. Starbucks is challenging that order via a petition for a writ of mandamus, "seeking issuance of a writ commanding the trial court to vacate its order and enter an order dismissing the case with prejudice on jurisdictional and immunity grounds. The Oregon Supreme Court allowed the petition and issued an alternative writ of mandamus," the court states.
The original case revolves around a putative class action for statutory damages and declaratory relief under Oregon wage-and-hour laws resulting from Starbucks’ admittedly unlawful deductions from employee wages.
