Pittsfield v. Local 447 International Brotherhood of Police Officers to be heard April 5
The Massachusetts Supreme Court will hear the case of the city of Pittsfield v. Local 447 International Brotherhood of Police Officers at 9 a.m. on April 5.
City of Pittsfield came to the Massachusetts Supreme Court after it argued the decision of the Superior Court Department of the Trial Court. The city requests that the court vacate the judgment entered by the Superior Court, and either enter judgment for the city with respect to its decision to terminate a police officer, or remand this case to the Superior Court with appropriate instructions.
The original case revolved around the city's decision to terminate an employee over alleged conduct unbecoming an officer, untruthfulness and falsifying records, as well as the ensuing arbitration and litigation.
