Maine Supreme Court to hear the case on patent infringement
The Maine Supreme Court will hear the case of a medical products firm's challenge of patent infringement claims at 9 a.m. on Nov. 14.
In the case of Puritan Medical Products Co. LLC vs. Copan Italia S.P.A., Puritan argued that the decision of the Business and Consumer Docket (BCD) erred by applying the wrong standard to the summary judgment motion. The BCD also made findings of fact rather than examining if there was evidence to support Puritan’s arguments.
The original case revolved around whether Puritan had infringed on Copan Italia's patent for a type of biological collection swab.
