Case involving International Longshore, Warehouse Union heads to Oregon Supreme Court
The Oregon Supreme Court will hear the case of International Longshore and Warehouse Union vs. Port of Portland, et al. at 9 a.m. Sept. 19.
This goes to the Oregon Supreme Court after International Longshore and Warehouse Union argued the decision of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit about the limits of a municipal corporation's ability to segregate its revenues without violating the state's constitution.
The original case revolved around International Longshore and Warehouse Union's possible violation of Article XI, section 9 of the Oregon Constitution, which is designed to prevent public funds being used in private enterprises.
